Submit Public Comment

The public notice and comment period for the U.S. State Department’s newly proposed regulations for the federal au pair program has been extended and is open until January 28, 2024.  Any interested parties have the opportunity to provide feedback through written submissions.  You may submit your comment on this page, which contains sample language that may be helpful, but we encourage you to represent your position in the way that feels best for you.

Here are a few things to remember as you prepare your comment:

• All comments are public.
• There is a 5000-character limit in the comment submission field on this portal that we have provided for public comment.
• You may only submit one comment through this method. 
• The comment field in this portal contains template language that you may wish to use.  We've offered some potential areas you may want to expand on with your personal views, including aspects you feel may be worth consideration. You may use the sample language provided to guide your comment submission or you may add or remove additional proposed changes that are specifically relevant to you or your family.  Feel free to provide alternative considerations for any of these suggested areas.
• Given the volume of responses that the State Department may receive, consider giving a title to the sections of your comment so it is easy to identify your areas of specific feedback.
